The mouth of the river Amstel, where the Damrak is now, formed a natural harbor, which became important for trading-exchange from the larger koggeships into the smaller ships that sailed the merchandise deeper into the hinterland.

Un festival que tiende puentes entre continentes y artistas. En el verano de 2022, la directora de orquesta mexicana Alondra de la Parra comisarió la primera edición del recién fundado Festival Paax GNP. Durante cinco días famosos artistas de todo el mundo acudieron a la Riviera Maya, en el país natal de Alondra de la Parra, México, y se unieron a músicos, bailarines de ballet, cantantes e intérpretes. Entre los artistas se encontraban estrellas como el violista serbio Nemanja Radulović, el violinista venezolano Alexis Cárdenas, el violinista ruso-alemán Aleksey Igudesman, el bailarín portugués Marcelino Sambé, el cuatrista venezolano Leo Rondón, el trompista chileno-francés Matías Piñeira y el contrabajista venezolano Edicson Ruiz, con quien de la Parra compartió escenario en numerosos conciertos. Los solistas contaron con el apoyo de La Orquesta Imposible, que Alondra de la Parra fundó durante la pandemia. Uno de los platos fuertes del festival fue el estreno mundial de "The Silence of Sound". Junto con la clown mexicana Gabriela Muñoz, Alondra de la Parra creó un proyecto multidisciplinar en el que se combinan la música clásica, la performance y el videoarte.
