Rolex Middle Sea Race – An enduring adventure
The Rolex Middle Sea Race brings the Mediterranean yachting season to a spectacular close. An international fleet of 100-plus yachts follows a circular course around Sicily, encountering active volcanoes, rugged islands and a variety of wildlife, before uniquely finishing where it starts: in Malta’s capital of Valletta. La misión Parker Solar Probe comienza a desvelar los secretos del Sol
La misión Parker Solar Probe de la NASA despegó en agosto de 2018 rumbo al Sol. En noviembre de aquel mismo año y en abril de 2019 realizó dos acercamientos a nuestra estrella, aproximándose a unos 24 millones de kilómetros. Hasta ahora, la mayoría de las mediciones se habían realizado a una distancia de una unidad astronómica (la que separa la Tierra del Sol, unos 150 millones de kilómetros).
Los instrumentos de la nave han registrado ahora nuevos datos sobre la corona (la atmósfera exterior del Sol, mil veces más caliente que su superficie), sus energéticas partículas y el viento solar, una información que se publica esta semana en cuatro artículos de la revista Nature.
