Klassik-Open Air der Deutschen Radio Philharmonie vor der Kulisse des Losheimer Stausees.
Gespielt werden Wiener Lieder und Operetten von Franz Léhar und Emmerich Kálmán, die„Donner und Blitz“-Polka von Johann Strauß und vieles mehr, es dirigiert Karen Kamensek.
Mit Operettenschmankerln von Franz Léhar und Emmerich Kálmán, mit der „Donner und Blitz“-Polka von Johann Strauß, mit Wiener-Liedern wie „Im Prater blühn wieder die Bäume“ oder „Wien wird schön erst bei Nacht“ geht es bei "SR Klassik am See" in die goldene Zeit der Wiener Musik.
Charmant und mit einem Schuss Ironie führt der Kult-Moderator des Wiener Opernballs, Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz, durch das Programm. Am Pult der Deutschen Radio Philharmonie steht die US-Amerikanerin Karen Kamensek.
Sie ist zu Hause auf Opern- und Konzertbühnen rund um den Globus, sie hat selbst zeitweise in Wien gelebt und jetzt heißt es „Welcome to Losheim, dear Karen!“ Mit ihr steht ein Solisten-Aufgebot bereit, das ebenso große Erwartungen weckt: die Sopranistin Cornelia Horak, der Tenor Jörg Schneider und die Geigerin Franziska Hölscher.

An opera gala that matches every superlative: Some of the world’s best opera singers from the classical music scene are presenting a variety of the most popular Bel Canto Arias. They will be accompanied by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Harmonia Symphony Orchestra, a youth orchestra from Peru, under the baton of Ukrainian conductor Andrii Yurkevych. The opera gala took place in 2015 in the Vienna State Opera, and was also a fundraising event with the motto: Juan Diego Flórez and Friends in Concert for Sinfonía por el Perú.
The non-profit organization Sinfonía por el Perú was founded in 2011, and has the goal of making a positive difference to the lives of thousands of underprivileged children and young people all over Peru through music education. Juan Diego Flórez directs the Sinfonía por el Perú, and comes himself from the Latin American country. To help support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, the Peruvian tenor has also established the Friends of Juan Diego Flórez Foundation.
The finale of the opera gala, which Flórez introduces with a touching acceptance speech, could hardly be more thrilling. All the Bel Canto stars join in the famous Neapolitan hit Non ti scordar di me, by Ernesto De Curtis. An unforgettably beautiful opera gala.

Neujahrskonzert 2021 der Oper Graz - „La Dolce Vita“
Der Titel „La Dolce Vita“ ist beim Neujahrskonzert der Grazer Philharmoniker unter der Leitung von Chefdirigent Roland Kluttig Programm: Von Tschaikowskis „Capriccio italien“, Ponchiellis „Tanz der Stunden“ und dem berühmten „Intermezzo“ aus Mascagnis Oper „Cavalleria Rusticana“ bis hin zu verschmitzter Opernmusik für Flöte und Oboe nach Gioachino Rossini ist alles vertreten. Für besonderes Italien-Feeling sorgen die Filmmusiken von Nino Rota aus Klassikern wie „La Dolce Vita“ und „Der Pate“ sowie der junge, in Italien ausgebildete Tenor Piotr Buszewksi. Er singt in italienischen Canzoni von Jugendträumen, von Liebesliedern, die die „Mamma“ verboten hat und von der Sonne und dem Wein Neapels.

Es ist nicht bekannt, ob Jay Beckenstein vor langer Zeit der Klassenbeste im Biologieunterricht war. Klar ist aber, dass der Musiker aus New York Anfang der 1970er-Jahre auf die Idee gekommen ist, seine Band nach einer Gattung der Grünalgen zu nennen. Von dieser Spezies sind rund 4000 Arten beschrieben, und genauso beständig, wie Grünalgen Gewässer besiedeln, so konstant tummeln sich Spyro Gyra – so der Band- und Grünalgenname – seit fast 50 Jahren in der Welt des Jazz.
Über 10.000 Gigs hat die US-amerikanische Jazz-Fusion-Band in fünf Jahrzehnten auf sechs Kontinenten gespielt, sie wurde mehrfach mit dem Grammy ausgezeichnet und hat mehr als 30 Alben veröffentlicht, etliche Gold- und Platinauszeichungen eingeheimst und über zehn Millionen Tonträger verkauft. Fester Ankerpunkt bei all dem, was Spyro Gyra in ihrer langen Karriere gemacht haben, ist dabei Fusion. Die Musiker um das Gründungsmitglied, den Saxofonisten Jay Beckenstein, kombinieren smoothen Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Funk, Latin, Pop und Rock und kreieren daraus einen Sound, der vor allem immer eins ist: stilistisch offen und breit gefächert. „Kunst manifestiert sich in einer Vielzahl von Stilrichtungen und Kontexten. Deshalb haben wir überhaupt erst begonnen, Musik zu machen” – so die Philosophie von Spyro Gyra.
Mit kreativer Energie, komplexer Spielfreude und großer Musikalität sind Spyro Gyra bis heute in der Welt des zeitgenössischen Jazz auf den Bühnen dieser Welt unterwegs. Und dabei haben sie immer etwas auf dem Schirm, was auch bei ihrer namensgebenden Algenart eine Rolle spielt: Artenvielfalt.

In the face of political and ideological divides between their respective countries, five years ago Daniel Barenboim, an Argentinean Jew and Israel’s most famous conductor and pianist, along with Christian Palestinian philosopher Edward Said, put together the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.
Symbolically named after Goethe’s book of poems called West-Östlicher Divan, a synthesis of Islamic and European poetry published as the Napoleonic Wars drew to a close, the Orchestra comprises an equal number of young Israeli and Arab musicians aged between 13 and 26. For all its symbolism, and hopefully something rather more than that, the aims and ambitions of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra are first and foremost musical ones: the Middle East’s political divides are eschewed for a union of musical talent, which speaks volumes for cultural interaction. Once the music starts, that is what matters. And it mattered considerably at this concert, the orchestra’s members fresh from a residency in Seville – radiating learning and conviction, and sharing the wonderful power of music in no uncertain terms. In this live recording from a concert in the Victoria Hall in Geneva two familiar masterworks were presented with significant import, Beethoven’s 3rd piano concerto and Tchaikovsky's famous 5th Symphony. As an encore, we also hear the overture from Verdi's "La Forza del destino" and Jean Sibelius' "Valse triste".
