Eastwood Symphonic - ARTE Concert

Kyle Eastwood s’entoure de son quintette et de l’Orchestre national de Lyon pour rendre hommage à la carrière de son père, Clint Eastwood. Un concert entre jazz, musique classique et cinéma. Clint Eastwood, c'est connu, est un fin mélomane. Féru de jazz, pianiste à ses heures, il a composé la musique de bon nombre de ses propres films depuis Mystic River, et en a fait un thème au cœur de son œuvre, à travers les histoires et personnages qu'il a mis en scène. Il en a aussi transmis le goût à son fils aîné, Kyle. Après avoir fait quelques pas sur les plateaux de cinéma (à 13 ans, il partage avec Clint Eastwood l'affiche de Honkytonk Man), tâté d'un peu de guitare, Kyle Eastwood a fait carrière comme bassiste de jazz, tout en participant régulièrement aux bandes originales des films de son père, comme Gran Torino ou Lettres d'Iwo Jima. Le jazzman a voulu rendre hommage à cette passion qui les relie à travers un concert spécial, où il rejoue les musiques qui ont marqué la filmographie de Clint, accompagné par son quintet et l'Orchestre national de Lyon. Trait d'union Ce road-movie musical ménage des escales attendues (les thèmes d'Inspecteur Harry, de Sur la route de Madison, du Bon, la brute et le truand) mais aussi des redécouvertes, comme la partition méconnue que John Williams a composée pour le film La sanction (1975). Célèbres ou non, ces mélodies résonnent ici autrement, réinventées par les arrangements de Kyle Eastwood, qui en fait la matière d'un jazz symphonique libre et chaleureux.

At the heart of this celebration is the people of Brazil, boasting a 100% Brazilian cast, walking to a soundtrack of national icon Gal Costa. Mother Nature and the tropical Brazilian climate proved to be the ultimate muse. As guests arrived to enjoy sunset cocktails and a breathtaking rainbow spanning the expanse of the stage, a rainstorm arrived upon the show location for a prolonged and unexpected period of time. Ultimately, guests were escorted to the adjoining party in a jungle greenhouse built for the occasion, as models were filmed in the rain barefoot holding their shoes, evoking an emotional and romantic image of the Girl from Ipanema.

Bach - The Art of Fugue BWV 1080 - Sato | Netherlands Bach Society

Bach’s Kunst der Fuge is shrouded in mystery. We don’t know whether Bach intended the music as material for practice or performance. The order of the 18 sections is unclear as well and we don’t know whether the piece was ever completed. Shunske Sato made his own instrumentation for the Netherlands Bach Society. “I wanted to bring out the many colours of the work and of my ensemble. Every fugue has its own character. On the basis of the rhythm, time and chromatic lines, etc., you can determine which instrument is most suitable. I’ve studied each part very carefully, in order to decide which instruments are best to use. I wanted the whole Netherlands Bach Society to be heard, so the singers are taking part as well. They sing without words, to vowel sounds. When you introduce singers to the Art of Fugue, you can hardly ignore the example of the Swingle Singers. The sung Contrapunctus 9 is intended as a tribute to their great recording." Georges Bizet : Carmen - Opéra Comique - ARTE Concert

Portée par la soprano Gaëlle Arquez, le célèbre opéra de Bizet traverse les époques sur les planches de l’Opéra Comique. Une nouvelle production mise en scène par Andreas Homoki et dirigée par Louis Langrée. L’opéra français le plus joué au monde revient sur la scène qui l’a vu naître en 1875. Le metteur en scène allemand Andreas Homoki s’empare du destin tragique de la belle bohémienne et du brigadier Don José en la transposant dans trois époques emblématiques : l’année de la création de Carmen et du scandale qui s’ensuivit ; la Résistance, période troublée qui coïncide avec l’entrée dans la clandestinité des deux amants; et nos jours, qui ont vu éclore le mouvement #MeToo, auquel fait écho la liberté sexuelle revendiquée par l’héroïne. Sous la direction tout en nuances de Louis Langrée, cette version offre un splendide écrin à la mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez, qui insuffle au rôle toute la passion qu’il exige.
